Generate basic data on the postharvest physiology of tropical horticultural crops that will serve as bases in the development and/or modification of technologies, protocols and systems that are responsive to the needs of the industry.

As a non-degree granting unit, PHTRC provides human and physical resources for eight (8) postharvest courses and several crop science courses of the Institute of Crop Sciences (ICropS), as well as expert services to other units of the university including but not limited to food science, engineering, nutrition, chemistry, pathology, entomology, and economics.
