The PHTRC celebrated the 2019 National Book Month (NBM) with a line-up of activities that highlighted poetry and information literacy. Book Month is observed all over the Philippines every month of November. The celebration aims to promote the importance of reading, writing and literature. Activities conducted at the PHTRC Annex Training Room were “Hugot sa Libro Poetry”, November 4; “Blackout Poetry”, November 11; and seminar titled “Fake News and Information Disorder: A Guide for Digital Natives”, November 18. Invited speaker for the seminar was Meichelle Ann Jenine S. Rivas, college librarian from the University Special Collection Section of Main Library. These activities were participated in by PHTRC staff and researchers. After the seminar, Irene l. Delos Santos, chair of the 2019 NBM celebration at the university library, discussed the history of the National Book Month. This was followed by the awarding of certificates and prizes for the winners in the activities conducted. The group of Ryan Anthony O. Lualhati, Johnrell S. Zuniega and Daphne Cassandra H. Gonzales won in the “Hugot sa Libro Poetry” while the group of Jennelyn M. Resorez, Ryan Anthony O. Lualhati and Gonzales won in the “Blackout Poetry.” (NG Ramos)
