The staff of PHTRC underwent a writeshop titled “Technical Workshop on Journal Article Writing for Publication” last October 21-23 at the PHTRC Annex Training Room. Dr. Ofelia K. Bautista, expert scientific journal editor and evaluator, served as the resource person. A discussion of the parts of a scientific journal was conducted prior to the actual writing and revision of prepared manuscripts. Dr. Bautista made rounds to coach each of the participants on techniques in writing. Some participants then presented their revised manuscript for further comments and suggestions. The 17 regular and project staff who participated in the workshop brought their manuscripts from their involved project or thesis, with the potential to be published in a refereed journal, whether as full paper or as research note article. Dr. Elda B. Esguerra, PHTRC director, opened the event with an inspirational message for the participants to pursue journal publication. Meanwhile, the PHTRC librarians, Nirvana G. Ramos and Jeanybeth D. Casa, gave tips and information on searching for journal articles as well as indices for productivity for Researchers. This activity was inspired by the previous writeshop conducted last November 2017 which resulted in four full paper ISI publications from the one-day event. Hopefully, with more participants and longer writeshop duration, the PHTRC will produce more journal publications. (RAO Lualhati)
